Gympie Motorcycle Club – Newsletter – July 2010
Hi Club Members
Time is flying this year is getting away so here is an update on events. Our club race events are done for this year having held the Husaberg Pony Express race at Woolooga last weekend. We did end up with a few injuries and the conditions were dusty which is ironic with the amount of wet and washed out events up and down the eastern seaboard. Well done to all that finished the event and thanks to everyone that helped out.
We look forward to a MX practice day on the 8th August which is a Sunday only event and please remember to remove your barkbusters and side stands, also make sure you plug the ends of your handlebars. Tell your friends the track gets better the more we use it. We will need adults to water and flag marshal also please.
The GAR is looking promising for the 9th and 10th October after Mike and I attended a meeting with Qld Parks and with Forestry recently with their concerns again with damage to tracks and fire risk issues as usual but it is getting harder every year to get through the hoops and over the hurdles.
The new club trailer was used on the weekend and proved to be a great investment. It is easy to tow and has a place for most things. The club could use a few plastic roadside type waterfillable barriers if anyone can help with those, please phone Frank on 0439 339 101.
There are still plenty of events to run before the end of the year, look on the Motorcycling Queensland website for a comprehensive calendar or look on the qldenduro website for an enduro specific calendar, updates and results.
The A4DE will be staged at Mackay in QLD over Easter next year, if you are thinking of going plan well ahead as accommodation seems to be limited.
The club needs more officials. We will cover your costs to attend courses, look on the MQLD website for dates and locations, a practice supervisor is the position required most of all. Please remember that meetings are at the St Johns building just down from The Australian Hotel, Gympie at 7.00pm on the second Monday of every month, so attend and have your say.
